On Salone Del Mobile 2018
I suppose that Piero Lissoni was very pleased as there were many his products presented on Salone Del Mobile 2018. Only some of them are New Betty Boop and L table for Kartell, the family of armchairs KN and modular bookcase for Knoll, new Curry sofa and new Ryoba table for Porro, the new version of the Hunua rug for Golran carpet company….
Origin of the sofa’ name comes from Edamame the way of the preparation of immature soybeans in the pod, which can be found in cuisines with origins in East Asia. The soybeans served as the inspiration to Piero Lissoni.
The most impressive part of the sofa is an organic shape which resembles on soya beans. The seat is full of curves, made from moulded foam in sculptural shape. The metal base, made of crosspieces with rounded steel feet, is simple, almost invisible with the only function to support the seat.
Eda-Mame has upholstered in stretch fabric. The buttons in the same colour as a seat fabric, are detailes on the seat. Their role is to contribute that surface of the seating is not monotonic. Offered fabrics and their structures support the shape as they are in neutral colours, with a light stitching.
This sofa is appropriate for residential spaces, suitable for public spaces and ideal for hotel lobbies. The pair of sofas is the interesting choice for public seating because they match together like jin and jang. The sofa will mark every space and will give it personality. No need to put the sofa against the wall because it is attractive from whatever side it is viewed.
Piero Lissoni describe that his sofa Eda-Mame « welcomes you and, if you want, it lets you drink an aperitif, almost as if it were an upholstered table. »
This product confirms the strategy of the Piero Lissoni studio that they always experiment and that their designs are the result of thinking outside the box.
